Deterministic chaos

The trajectories of the two pendulums are determined by the differential equations that describe the evolution of the non-linear system. However, minimal changes in the initial conditions cause the system to evolve on very different trajectories at sufficiently late times.
This behaviour is called "deterministic chaos".
