Iva Karovicova

 

I am a DFG fellow (German Research Foundation) at the Landessternwarte in Heidelberg since September 2018. I completed my first post-doctoral position at the Max-Planck Institute for Astronomy working at the Galaxies and Cosmology department. Followed by my second post-doctroral position as a DFG fellow at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics. I accomplished my Ph.D at the European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO) in Garching Germany, and I was awarded the degree by Laboratoire Hyppolite Fizeau (currently Lagrange laboratory) at the Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis (LUAN), France under supervision of Dr. Markus Wittkowski (ESO) and Prof. Eric Fossat (LUAN).



Research Interests

  • Observations with high angular resolution in the infrared wavelengths
  • Large stellar surveys - Benchmark Stars
  • Gas forming stars on the Asymptotic Giant Branch
  • The warm dust and gas surrounding the central engine of the Active Galactic Nucleus
