"Dust input from AGB stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud"

Zusammenfassung. Interstellar dust is an important agent of galactic evolution, playing a key role in star and planet formation. What is the role of stars in dust production at subsolar metallicities? How do dust production rates and dust mixture from stars vary over cosmic time? The LMC is a ideal object to answer these question, since its metallicity is 0.3-0.5 of Z_sun and its proximity and favourable position on sky permits observational studies of its star formation and chemical evolution with better accuracy and resolution than for any other galaxy. We employ these data to study dust-forming population of AGB stars and their input to the interstellar dust budget of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) with evolutionary dust models. I will discuss results from our model calculations of stardust lifecycle in the ISM over the LMC evolution and individual contributions of AGB stellar populations to the dust budget.
