"The filament-B field alignment and star formation efficiency"

Abstract. Comparing the orientations of filamentary molecular clouds in the Gould Belt and their local ICM (inter-cloud media) magnetic fields, we found that they tend to be either parallel (Type I) or perpendicular to each other (Type II). More surprisingly, after comparing with the star formation efficiencies (SFE) from Lada et al. (2010, ApJ), we found that Type II clouds always have higher SFE. I will present our suggested explanation for this phenomenon.
