"The history of galaxy populations in clusters"

Zusammenfassung. Cluster galaxies are diverse. They comprise objects with young and old stellar populations, slow and fast rotation, as well as single- and multi-component structure. Low-mass galaxies, which are more vulnerable to external influence, may hold a fossil record of how environment affected galaxy evolution over time. However, while their observed properties are often interpreted with strong recent transformation processes, cosmological simulations in the CDM framework predict an early and continuous environmental influence for many cluster members. I will explain why this is not a contradiction, and discuss whether or not the seemingly parallel structural sequences of late-type and early-type galaxies can be regarded as an evolutionary sequence.
