Britta Zieser:

"Integral, translation invariant analysis of galaxy clusters"

Zusammenfassung. The relation between the masses and concentrations of galaxy clusters is predicted to be cosmologically sensitive. As gravitational lensing probes the mass distributions in clusters, it provides an important tool to determine these parameters. While such analyses frequently rely on parametric fits to radial shear profiles, I present a new approach that avoids the use of analytic models and does not require azimuthal averaging. The method aims to identify characteristic scales from the behaviour of excursion sets for the projected mass density, which is calculated from an integral over the shear across the field. The absence of common symmetry assumptions should make such an estimator a more flexible and robust measure of cluster morphology.
