shearing of globular clusters

In a former post we have considered the winding-up of globular clusters in orbit around the Milky Way. what’s the relative motion of stars in a globular cluster relative to the cluster centre? If it does not depend linearly on the distance from the cluster centre, why is a linearisation applicable? If it does depend linearly on the distance from the cluster centre, would that be compatible with a gravitational field being present?
