gravitational wave background and random walks
26 Mar 2025There is a presumed gravitational wave background with energy density \(\rho_\mathrm{GW} = \langle \dot{h}_{ab}\dot{h}^{ab}\rangle/(32\pi G)\) corresponding to roughly \(\Omega_{GW}\simeq 10^{-20}\). Could you derive from that an uncertainty of the Hubble-law \(\upsilon = H_0 d\) for the recession velocity \(\upsilon\) as a function of distance \(d\)? How large would the physical effect be, and could you measure associated fluctuations on redshift \(z\) (on what time scales)?
