"ISM filaments and high-mass star formation: The DR21 ridge in Cygnus X"

Abstract. Herschel observations have emphasized the connection between interstellar filaments and pre-/protostellar cores, indicating their importance for the initial conditions of star formation. I will discuss the DR21 ridge, a massive cloud structure in the Cygnus X region. Our Herschel study of the detailed column density and temperature structure reveals how filaments play an important role in the formation of clusters and high-mass stars there.
