Numerical methods in plasma-astrophysics

In this lecture numerical methods for current plasma problems in astrophysics are discussed. This includes

  • Finite Volume methods
  • N-Body-Codes
  • Tree-Codes
  • Particle-in-Cell Codes
  • Vlasov-Methods
  • Lattice-Boltzmann-Methods
During the exercises the numerical methods shall be coded - knowledge of at least one programming language is a must. Experience in electrodynamics or plasmaphysics is a plus.
